This weekend was eventfully uneventful. Amy's been outta town, so I'm bachin' it . I've been straightening up and putting excess things into storage (i.e. race wheels/TT bike/painting equipment) that we won't need until at least the spring. The place is finally liveable, and very comfy. In fact, I spent the better part of Sunday afternoon on the couch laying down. Something I haven't done in months. I even watched some football. Something I haven't done in years.
Saturday I went for a 3.5 hr ride with Jeremy. We were going to hit the dirt, but I had to get my hair cut since I'm going to North Carolina to hang with the inlaws. (oh what!), so time was of the essence.
Sunday I hit the MOB ride. Holy ball punch. I forgot what it's like to have no top end, and be detrained. There are a few guys doing cross, or, some late season out of town road races that showed up, and just threw it down. I was pretty bushed and this just pushed me over the edge. I earned that couch!! The overall ride wasn't too impressive, but, needless to say, it was more than mission accomplished. We headed out of Golden up towards I-70, and I peeled off as they went to Red Rocks. Jeremy & I headed to the cross race, but the weather threatened with some clouds and wind, so we headed back. It was a day right out of late November! kinda chilly and super overcast. Just how I like it. Cold enough for basic cold weather gear (arm warmes/knee warmers) when you start, but warm enough that you know it's going to warm up, so mmmmaaybe don't take that stuff along.
I'll hit the weight room when I get back which I am excited about. I'm trying to set my new squat record this year. As far as WHERE to do the gym work...I'm torn! DU is awesome. Amazing facilities, amazing equipment, but also, amazingly expensive. The local city Rec Center has the gear I need, is SUPER cheap, but is like a crack house with a bench press. I typically ride after my lifting as a "clean out the pipes/basice base ride", and working out close to home allows me the freedom to not only ride TO the gym (it's 3 blocks) on mY Fixed Gear, but, also, go right home and hop on the Tacx. Heck...looks like I just made up my mind. Crackhouse!
Next few days will be no entries. Enjoy the peace & quiet...
