It is my general opinion that 99.9% of people that agree to purchase/pick up a free item from a listing on craigslist do NOT ever show up. I've posted so much stuff on there...for sale and for free, and, have had at least 10 emails per item, but not a SINGLE person has ever followed through. I've had futons, bikes, microphones, and various other items listed, and people have sent me emails saying "oh, I'll take it!", or, "I can pick it up tonight!", or "Is this still avaiable? I want it". Then I never hear from them again. One guy lived around the block from me, and told me he'd literally walk over and wheel my FREE futon away. Never showed up...and I, like a dumbass...waited!
That was then...this is now. I am proud to say that I finally had someone come by and pickup an item they said they wanted!!! I listed my old hiawatha bike

that has been sitting on the back porch blocking our access to the basement forEVER. This bike has been around with me since ~ 1999, and, believe it or not has seen some decent mileage. I picked it up in Walnut Iowa on a random Sunday morning stop over, driving back from Des Moines. It needed some work, and I vowed I'd restore it! Of course I didn't. I did ride it a lot though. The longest I ever went was about 20 miles on it, and I thought my ass & knees were going to fall off it hurt so much. The seat was bent and very hard, and the cranks were like 160mm long, with a seatpost of about 10mm...so my knees were pracitcally hitting me in the nose. Couple that with every single bolt being loose, the incessant rattling, and the semi-functional coaster brake, and you've got a bicycle that's cool lookng, but very sketchy to ride! I hadn't ridden it in a very long time since restoring my old Stumpjumper frame to a single speed, so, it just sat there. I thought about selling it, but can't find a lick of information about the bike/company online. Thus, I decided to just give it away. Tyler Stans from
Luxury Lowrider picked 'er up and is going to restore it. Good for him! He does some very impressive work, and can restore a turd to a gold crown in looking at his before/after pics on his website.
I could care less about the bike, honestly, but I'm psyched someone came through
