Last night, Amy & I watched the documentary "Okie Noodling". It's all about these Oklahoman folk that continue with the "lost art" of noodling, which, is basically fishing with your hands for catfish. It's pretty intense, and quite amusing to watch...almost unbelievable. The film is all about these guys from all over Oklahoma, and, they discuss their "philosophies" around what noodling is, where it comes from, and, kinda trash each other. Yep...there is even trash talking in noodlin'!
From what I gathered, noodling involves finding the brackest, nastiest water in the world.
Basically these guys just walk in (shoes and all if they choose), and search for catfish in holes that develop along the shorelines and collapsed old highways. It's really entertaining. Once they find a fish, the basically jam their entire arm down its throat, grab it by its insides, and yank it out of the water onto their boat. The highlight of the whole film is the awful awful hair...
